During this workshop, participants will spend three days working collaboratively under Pete Braspenninx’s guidance to forge and assemble an outdoor sculpture of many components. Techniques will focus on traditional joinery and clean, consistent forgings. This workshop is open to advanced participants: registrants should be familiar with blacksmithing equipment and processes.

During that time a a dynamic collaborative forging team will come together to create a functional sculpture, adding a new chapter to the festival's tradition of innovative blacksmithing. Equal Temperament

Equal Temperament highlights the inclusivity of modern metalworking in a juried art show, accompanied by a variety of interpretive programming to showcase metal’s links with other artistic and historical forms. The show invites artists to submit works inspired by or including metalworking or forging that safely fit within a USPS Flat Rate Shipping Box. The works will be juried by an independent panel and showcased at the Kentucky Museum during a 10-month exhibition from July 2025 to April 2026.
No entry fee for up to 3 submissions. Up to 50 works will be selected for the exhibition by a panel of independent jurors. Showcased works are eligible for 5 cash awards.

Workshopping With is a virtual programming series led by SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths) members on a variety of topics. Learn more about an array of subjects ranging from technique-based skills to professional practices. Each workshop lasts approximately an hour, with an interactive Q&A session. Participants will receive a handout and access to a recording of the session.

The theme for this exhibition is derived from the age old debate of art versus craft and encourages makers to use their fine tuned craftsmanship skills to create striking, artistically thought out pieces.
