Standing Scholarships at the Steel Yard

Providence Rhode Island

The Steel Yard offers accommodations, including full and partial scholarships available to students who may not otherwise be able to afford to enroll in a welding, blacksmithing, jewelry, or ceramics course. Whether you’re new to the Yard or you’ve been here before, we want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to learn a new art form or a trade that promotes experimentation and personal growth.

The Steel Yard recognizes that there are demographically underrepresented groups within the industrial arts. The lack of these voices is a detriment to not only those underrepresented groups but also to current practitioners of the industrial arts. The Steel Yard believes that:

EVERYONE deserves access to industrial arts education.
EVERYONE can benefit from taking classes at The Steel Yard, whether that means for recreation or for vocation.
Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (QT/BIPOC) experience social and economic barriers that prevent them from being able to access the industrial arts. QT/BIPOC have historically been denied the benefits of their labor in this country, and we acknowledge that we reside on the stolen lands of the Narragansett.

In addition to working towards safe environments for our students, The Steel Yard seeks to promote equitable economic access to students. As a component of our Scholarship Program, we offer the following standing scholarship to courses:

25% off scholarship with the code QTBIPOC25
15% off scholarship with the code QTBIPOC15
