sparc RETREAT
The next SPARC retreat will take place:
September 25 - 27, 2026
at The Metal Museum in Tennessee
Please note: The SPARC retreat is for BIPOC-identifying smiths. The Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths (SIBs) and Smiths for the Promotion of Accessibility, Representation, and Community (SPARC) advocate for inclusion in smithing spaces, recognizing the value of communities creating spaces to explore issues specific to their experiences.

"What’s Understood Does Not Need to be Explained"
What’s Understood Does Not Need to be Explained explores paths around, above, and below the obvious realities that have come to be expected from BIPOC artists. This exhibition is an invitation to refuse the explanatory comma. Artists are invited to create what they feel called to, and submit work that speaks to multiplicity, shared understanding, and alternative futures.
Submissions are due May 15th @ 11:59 pm ET.
