Groundworks Art Lab is hiring a Metal Studio Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our Boulder, Colorado studio. This hands-on role combines metal fabrication, welding and equipment knowledge, studio operations, studio administration, instruction, safety oversight, and occasional manager-on-duty responsibilities.

Pratt Fine Arts Center is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Sculpture Technician to join our team. The Sculpture Technician is a unique position that will play a key role in studio-specific operations. Reporting to the Metal Sculpture Studio Manager, this position will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the Metal Sculpture Department, its studios (welding, blacksmithing, bronze casting, sandblasting [shared]), and equipment. The Sculpture Technician will work closely with the Metal Sculpture Studio Manager, other Studio Technicians, and Pratt’s Facilities Manager to maintain the high-quality equipment, resources, and facilities that Pratt has become known for.

Empact Art is seeking a metal worker in the DMV area to collaborate on an ambitious community-engaged public art project at Montpelier House Museum in Prince George's County, Maryland.

We are currently developing Ancestral Gatherings, a series of six monumental sculptural works ranging from ~ 2 to 10 feet tall. The sculptures will be created through a combination of lazer cut steel, mosaic, ceramic, and community-generated artwork, bringing together traditional craftsmanship and contemporary community storytelling.

This project is rooted in the complex history of Montpelier House, a historic plantation whose story includes the lives, labor, resilience, and contributions of enslaved African Americans. Through community engagement, historical research, and collaborative artmaking, Ancestral Gatherings seeks to honor ancestral memory, acknowledge difficult histories, and create spaces for reflection, connection, and healing.

We are looking for metal workers interested in:

-Collaborating on the fabrication of sculptural armatures and metal elements
-Working alongside mosaic artists, ceramic artists, and community participants
-Participating in a multidisciplinary public art project that centers community voices and historical understanding

We are seeking a metal worker who meets the following qualifications:

-Availability from Fall 2026 through Spring 2027
-A minimum of three years of professional experience
-An artistic aesthetic that complements the project’s design vision
-Strong communication and collaboration skills

This is a paid collaborative opportunity. Compensation will be determined based on the scope of the proposed design, fabrication requirements, and anticipated labor involved in the project.
