The founder, Luke Ciccone (he/him), has a background in materials science & engineering and is an active ally and advocate of minorities in engineering. Luke was diagnosed with Idiopathic Hypersomnia (hence Sleepyhead) and has leaned into metalworking and crafting as a means to manage the symptoms of his disability. My name is Bear (he/him), I'm a queer indigenous blacksmith out of Flint Michigan. I volunteer at a large public forge space, called Factory Two, as an instructor for beginner-intermediate smiths.

Factory Two has a great deal of other resources besides 3 forges (coal and gas) four anvils, a post vice, hammers, tongs, and free materials on site. They've also got a Bridgeport mill, lathes, welders, cnc, 3d printers, and a ton more.

If someone cannot afford a membership or classes please contact me. I have the ability to open the forge up outside of business hours, and I can have a +1 any time as an instructor so someone can just show up while I'm there free of charge. My email is wanderingbear1986@gmail.com.
