Hello, my name is Adrian Cruz and I am a recipient of the grant from Desert Metal Craft in Tucson, AZ. Through your generosity and support, I was able to take a class from Nick Rossi and continue to earn knowledge in my newfound passion for knife making. I've only dipped my toes in this trade, starting back in August 2021, so I don't take any opportunity I get for granted. While my lack of experience was tangible, my classmates, and of course Nick, made me feel a strong sense of community. This experience was unforgettable, and I was able to take away a lot of new techniques like scrolling, peening a rivet, leaving a forge finish on a knife, and an innumerable amount of tips and tricks. More than anything, I've brought home a finished friction folder knife and a stronger itch to get have a home forge of my own. Since this might not be in the immediate future, I will keep looking forward to opportunities like this to grow my knowledge and skills. Once again, I thank you for granting me this experience.
