Lisa Geertsen

Lisa Geertsen is an artist blacksmith from Seattle, WA currently pursuing her MFA in Metalsmithing/Blacksmithing at SIUC. She has exhibited at local and national blacksmithing conferences as well as group exhibitions in Colorado, Tennessee, Maryland, Florida, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Hawaii and Europe. Her art encompasses many themes; nature, emotion, form, word play and the human experience. Geertsen’s process is about making a connection, telling a story, stepping outside a comfort zone, pushing oneself and making the ordinary into something beautiful. She aims to engage others to experience these moments and trigger something within them that sparks a connection inspired by the metamorphic process of working with metal.
